Metal Guitar Lessons - Learning the Guitar With Heavy Metal Music

Although heavy metal is distinctive as a genre of music, it's also known for having numerous sub-genres (and in some cases, sub-sub-genres!). In particular, many of these sub-genres play out their differences in the guitar parts.

As you progress in your guitar lessons, it can be fun to explore the varying elements in these styles. Below we'll go over a few of the most well-known kinds of metal.

Classic Metal - Originally, this was the only kind of metal! Bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Judas Priest really helped to define metal as its own kind of music. Although influenced by blues and psychedelic rock, early heavy metal was defined by distorted guitar sounds, gruff, heavy vocals, and complex dual guitar work. It's a great genre to explore as a student of the guitar, as it provides numerous classic and popular songs to explore.

Thrash - The key element of thrash metal is SPEED! Thrash music is known for being incredibly fast paced, and therefore might not be the best choice for beginner musicians. Look for bands like Metallica, Megadeth and Testament for great thrash songs.

Heavy Metal Guitar School of Music

The heavy metal guitar school of music has few unique characteristics. There are people who completely worship it, and there are people who find it very loud and aggressive. Whatever might be your preference, it is quite impossible to ignore the huge effect it has on popular culture and music.

So, if you want to play heavy metal guitar, knowing few things about this school of music might come in handy. Heavy metal music involves deep and primordial sounds, which are very different from the genre of pop music. The emphasis is on the forceful and the loud music created by the lead guitarist and the entire band, rather than on the individual prowess of the lead singer. Therefore, the lyrics of the songs are also sometimes considered as of secondary importance.

Heavy metal music evolved out of certain musical influences and notions. The Blues music was a major influence but some musicologists even trace back the roots to classical music. Although, they are from different traditions, many of the guitarists of heavy metal bands, especially those belonging to the power metal tradition, are in fact trained in playing classical music. One fine example of such an artist is Swedish player, Yngwie Malmsteen. Malmsteen has popularized the neo classical guitar playing with his blend of classical infused metal guitar solos.

Music Videos For Iphone - Do You Know Where To Get Them?

Downloading music video for iPhone is something that thousands of people will be doing in the coming months. It's actually a lot easier than you may imagine, so stay tuned while we show you how it's done.

Following on from the incredible success of the Apple iPod, the iPhone has been released to a massive fanfare in the media. It is now being suggested that initial demand will be too great for the retailers to meet. The thought of combining a full all in one multimedia device with a cell phone has obviously struck the right chord with the public.

In order to download music video for iPhone, you will need to have a computer which can handle video files. Any fairly modern machine should be good enough, you won't need anything on the cutting edge of today's standards. You will also need an internet connection, which will need to be good. If you have a fast broadband connection, you will find the job so much easier, but it still possible to download videos on dial up connections. It will be much slower, but you only have to download each file once.

The videos will need to be downloaded in the mp4 format, which is the format that the iPhone uses. This is obviously the format that most of these sites use anyway. The biggest problem you will have is finding a reliable source of music video for iPhone that you can use and just stick with. There are significant dangerous traps which can catch out the unwary here, so you do need to be careful. The biggest danger is in using P2P sites, which many people have thought was a good idea at the time, but have come to regret badly. These sites are operating against the law, so give them a wide berth. They are also dangerous, as many of the downloads contain spyware and viruses which can harm your computer.

How to Make a Professional Music Video at Home

How to Create Your Own Professional Music Video from Home

Today, many who go web-surfing run into spoof music videos that get millions of views. Sadly, more than half of those people who got 1,000,000+ views missed an opportunity of earning $20,000 or more from just that YouTube upload. Why is this so? I will let you know near the end of this article. Shall we get back to the topic?

For those who think it isn't possible to make a high quality music video from home like the ones you see on television, I am here to tell you that it IS possible to make even BETTER videos. You may not be able to create one as good on the first try, but again who is? It takes perfection; following these 5 steps:

Step 1: Music

Of course a music video isn't a music video without music. Find an instrumental that you want to create a song to and download it. A good program that I recommend for downloading instrumentals would be Frostwire. You can download it from frostwire.com. It is completely free to download and use. Or so it was the last time I checked. Be careful when downloading from Frostwire though. The first two or three files at the top are usually tricks, but you can easily tell them apart. The false ones usually match your search phrase word for word, letter for letter, and are lower case. Also check the file size to the right of each result. Instrumentals and songs are usually at an average file size of 1,000 Kb for each minute of a song. So if an instrumental you're looking for is about 3 minutes long, the file size should be around 3,000 Kb. The false ones at the top are usually at a small file size, around 10-30 kb.

How to Download Music to Your iPhone

For any individual user, taste will dictate the way in which you enjoy music on your iPhone. You may choose to load the device's on-board memory with songs from your iTunes collection. You are also able to download and stream music using mobile applications. Regardless of your preferred user experience, there are many different ways to download music to your iPhone.

Your iPhone Functions Like an iPod

With regard to its media player, your iPhone will provide similar functionality to an iPod that was released around the same time. If you are familiar with the process involved in adding songs to an iPod Touch, then you will have no difficulty getting tunes on your phone.

For those less familiar, the easiest way to load your media library is to sync your phone with iTunes. When you first download the program, it is set to automatically sync. In some situations, you may not want to sync every file, so, if that is the case, be sure to disable automatic syncing in the iTunes user interface.

How To Download Music To a MP3 Player - Download a Free MP3 Music Player Now

In looking to download music to a MP3 player the process is relatively easy once you learn the basics. First, you'll need to have all your connecting cables or docks, software and the music you want to download in place.

As not all portable devices are created equally, you may need your manual to tell you where to begin. This is especially true if you're a total newbie to a particular media player or to MP3 players in general. However, most portable devices usually work in the same manner, so in order to download music to MP3 players you should follow the same, or at least similar, steps.

Hopefully your MP3 player can hook up to your computer using a USB connection; this would be the easiest way to download music to a MP3 player. Just transfer music files as you would other files and documents to a removable disk drive and copy and paste.

To have organized playlists here's a useful tip; before downloading music onto your MP3 player you can create the folders beforehand and just sequence the music into the folders while you're on your computer. This will save you valuable time in the long run because you'll be able to locate the songs you want to listen to very quickly.

History of the Soul Train Music Awards

Soul Train began in 1971, as the first African American music variety show in the history of American television, with a format including a dance club ambiance playing the day's most popular urban music, complete with dancing men and women throughout the show, dressed to impress, along with hosts and performances from among major figures in Black entertainment. Though it initially aired in only the seven cities of Atlanta, Cleveland, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and San Francisco, the show met with a successful start. Within seven months, the show had achieved its goal of airing in syndication in 25 major cities. The show had been the dream of Don Cornelius, the program's founder, producer, and host. His mission had been to establish a vehicle to offer recognition to Black artists who, in the 60's and 70's, did not receive much television air time on other programs that featured music.

Academy of Country Music Awards

In 1964, two country music performing artists, Eddie Miller and Tommy Wiggins, joined two club owners, Mickey and Chris Christensen, to found the Country and Western Music Academy, aiming to realize their collective dream of gaining support of west coast musical artists in order to promote country music in the thirteen states comprising the West Coast. Two years later, in 1966, the CWMA presented its first country music awards ceremony to honor excellence in achievement within the country music industry from during the past year. Their event marked the first country music awards backed by a major organization, and succeeded in shedding the spotlight on the genre for all the public to take notice.

Winners of the first ceremony included Buck Owens, as Top Male Vocalist; his band, the Buckaroos, as Band of the Year; Bonnie Owens, as Top Female Vocalist; and Kay Adams, as Top New Female Vocalist - all performers based on the West Coast, in keeping with the organization's mission to bring such artists recognition, as well as indicative of their membership being composed primarily of peers in country music also based on the West Coast.

Fall 2012 Fashion Trends For Women

The designers are releasing their Pre-Fall 2012 collections. Although not all of the major designers have unveiled their collections, some trends are already occurring on the runway. Here they are in random order:

1. FALL (IN LOVE WITH THE) COLORS

Finally! The acid bright days have died already. Time to channel your old western side and go rustic in your selection of colors (think of rust red, brown barks and camel tones, if you are still having difficulty, think of the colors of the fall!). Not only does this give you a more down to earth yet structured theme, it also prepares you for the coming chill ahead! (Fact: Warm and dark colors keep you warm better than lighter tones.)
3. Gray is the new black

Gray is back in fashion. After a very long AWOL, the fashion industry has revived the love for the color gray to bring back a sense of sophistication and grounding that the runways have been missing. If you have been observing, 2011 has always been about the outrageous, sometimes eye-cringing outfits, 2012 seems to be calming down. Another off-shoot trend from this is that there is a boom for corporate-looking outfits and straight cut silhouettes.

Movie Review - Project X (2012) (R)

A Movie That Sends Mixed Signals

Is Project X a cautionary tale of irresponsible teenagers, or is it a glorification of underage debauchery? I wish I could answer this question. The film is nothing if not an eighty-eight-minute lesson in sending mixed signals, which will not do any favors for its primary audience (you and I both know its R rating will not deter those under the age of seventeen from seeing it). While much of the film is exactly what I expected it would be - wild partying, crude behavior, a lot of foul language, profane sexual references - the experience was nonetheless unsettling, for at no point could director Nima Nourizadeh make up his mind on what message he wanted to send. It's hard for me to accept this movie as pure entertainment, since there is nothing innately entertaining about teenage drinking, drug taking, and the wanton destruction of private property.

Review: Project X (2012)

We all know that parties can go in many different directions. Sometimes they can go smoothly and sometimes they can get completely out of control. From the stand point of making a film, I'd find it hard to believe that too many people would want to watch a movie about a party that goes off without a hitch. With that said, what direction do you think party in Project X is going to go in? I'll give you a hint: You might find tasers and a flamethrower in this movie.

Five Great Concerts to Catch in 2011

One of the best things about any new year is all the great concerts that are just around the corner. A lot of popular bands and artists are touring this year, so here are five great concerts you should catch:

Eric Clapton. Some people get better with age. Eric Clapton is definitely one of them. The English bluesman-cum-rocker released his last CD last fall (simply titled Clapton) and he's now touring in support of it. In 2011, Clapton will hit big venues in Portland, Sacramento, and Las Vegas before heading over to the U.K. Be sure to check out a gig so you can hear classics like "Layla" and "Crossroads" played the way they were meant to be played: live.
Rush. It seems like this Canadian band has been around forever with hits dating back to the 1970's but guess what? They're still going strong and are quite possibly more popular than ever. The band's classic songs "Tom Sawyer" and "Spirit of the Radio" are still played on the radio and the guys appeared in the 2009 film I Love You, Man.. This year finds the trio hitting the road for another leg of their successful Time Machine tour with stops in Austin, Los Angeles, and The Gorge, Washington among other places. Check them out if they come to a town near you. They're fantastic live.
Katy Perry. Katy Perry, everyone's favorite pop chanteuse, will play some of her biggest hits when she hits the stage this summer. Thanks to her unique look and popular, chart-topping such songs as "Teenage Dream" and "Hot and Cold," Katy's shows promise to be great. Katy will begin her tour in the U.K. and will hit North America in June with gigs in Boston, Toronto, Denver, and Vancouver, B.C. Hit one of her shows if you're in the mood for great pop music.

10 of the Most Popular Country Singers of All Time

George Jones

Carter family

Hank_Williams
 Jimmie Rodgers
When it comes to the listing the top ten country singers, you are in for a herculean task. No one can really say that one singer is better than the other as this is a subjective thing. Everyone tries to come up with lists and hoping to seek the approval of the people who will be reading it.

1. Hank Williams - He is the one who introduced the honky tonk style to the country music world. Others dubbed him as one of the greatest hillbilly music singers for all time.

2. George Jones - Just like the other hillbilly music singers, Jones earned his spot in the music industry by having a long list for his hit records. "No show Jones" was his nickname for his failure to show up in many performances.

3. Roy Acuff - This singer is best known by his fans as the "King of Country Music." He was the one who showed the world the "hoedown" format which eventually captured the international market. Acuff is the first living person to be inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Famous Genres of Haitian Music

The history of Haiti music can be traced many years back; the Haiti music has gradually evolved over time to its present form. The early Haitian musicians have improved over time, making spectacular performances and thus the surging preference of Haitian music videos all over the world. New outstanding musicians have come up in the Haitian community pushing live Haitian music to the next level through staged live performances in many parts of the world.

Rap Kreyo is a popular Haiti music genre. Many Haitian musicians who specialize in rap music genre have passed through rough childhood with very poor living conditions. As a result of this many rappers address social economic issues in the Haiti community. The aspects of Haiti community that are addressed in the rap songs by renowned Haitian musicians include slum life, poverty and violence. Among the musicians in Haiti, Master Dji is very famous as he was the first singer to release the first Haitian rap song in 1980s. Many young members of the Haitian community have been influenced by the famous musicians to become rappers and this explains why Haitian musicians are ranked as the leading rap stars that are globally recognized.

Occupy v The Summer of Love

"A truly free, democratic, and just society where we, the people, come together and solve our problems by consensus. Where people are encouraged to take personal and collective responsibility and participate in decision making. Where we learn to live in harmony and embrace principles of toleration and respect for diversity and the differing views of others. Where we secure the civil and human rights of all from violation by tyrannical forces and unjust governments. Where political and economic institutions work to benefit all, not just the privileged few. Where we provide full and free education to everyone, not merely to get jobs but to grow and flourish as human beings.Where we value human needs over monetary gain, to ensure decent standards of living without which effective democracy is impossible.Where we work together to protect the global environment to ensure that future generations will have safe and clean air, water and food supplies, and will be able to enjoy the beauty and bounty of nature that past generations have enjoyed".

The "Summer of Love" in 1967 was a social phenomenon that occurred during the summer of 1967, when as many as 100,000 people converged on the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco, thus initiating a major cultural and political shift. At that time the USA also saw some of the worst violence in its history because of the race riots/insurrections that occurred in places such as Detroit and Newark.

Fast forward 43 years and we have the Occupy Movement. Initially Occupy Wall Street was initiated by the Canadian activist group Adbusters, and partly inspired by the Arab Spring, especially Cairo's Tahrir Square protests, and the Spanish Indignants.

2 Great seismic cultural shifts both claiming peace and fairness whilst juxtaposed on a backdrop of violence and intimidation.  Below is a video recounting violence at Occupy Oakland in California which occurred from both protesters and Police.

It's quite clear to me that the Human spirit is unable to be bossed, corralled, controlled and nannied - the Orwellian control grid that is being erected around us will not be successful. Humanity will ultimately flourish with Love, Peace, Creativity and freedom, as that surely is our natural state.

The use of violence is the last refuge of the oppressor - look at what is happening in Syria right now. Did you even realize that in the last century alone, Governments of the world killed over 250 million people in order to "control us" and they still keep on doing it?   And yet here we are - still protesting!

The simple answer is for humanity to say no - refuse to be intimidated and surround ourselves with peace. Sounds easy but with the dogs barking at the gates it is hard to do. Laugh at them, ignore them and stay focused because the other way does not bear thinking about...

My adopted Town of Traverse City is a beautiful place and we want to keep it that way. It may surprise you to know that we have our own peaceful Occupy movement. Nobody is camping out in the park (to cold this time of year lol)  but it is all about occupying hearts and minds with a message - that's all. Perhaps by occupying our own hearts and minds with the message at the beginning of this post -  life could be a whole lot better?

This one caught my eye (4 short vids in all)... Here we have a guy trying to make his mortgage payment at a branch of the Bank of Amerika America - in cash - and they wont accept it!

It gets a little messy and the Bank calls the cops. Ok, so you might say that the guy who shot the video is seeking attention and is the author of his own misfortune - but the fact remains that the bank wont accept legal tender cash money in payment of a mortgage - wow!!!

I though would have written out a notice and left the cash on the desk in the branch, what would they do - just leave it there? I think not. Would they call the cops and say "this is the bank and some dude has shown up and left $1,400 in payment of a mortgage loan on a desk here and we don't want it?" I guess even the cops would find that one strange, but there we are - even the criminal banks wont touch cash now.

The "if you've got nothing to hide you have nothing to fear" mantra/paranoia that is everywhere in officialdom now means you can't pay with cash only policed electronic currency - your financial privacy no longer exists.

Welcome to America, Land of the Free Home of the Brave! Does anyone really believe that BS anymore?
